eRBMS Information and Policy Statement

eRBMS is an e-mail Discussion List which is exclusively for RBMS members. The list has been established by the River Basin Management Society (RBMS) for the members of the RBMS.

It will be used by the RBMS Committee to communicate policy developments, news and information in-between newsletters. It will also be used to inform members that the newsletter in full-colour can be downloaded from our “members-only” website. Further, it will allow members to contribute to policy development, submit and develop newsletter articles and provide information directly to other members. However, the list is in members' hands really and it can become a tool to suit your purposes.

This list and others members can be contacted by sending a message to one e-mail address: erbms@vicnet.net.au. You have to be an eRBMS and a RBMS member to send and receive messages. The list is both moderated and closed. That is, all messages sent to the list must be approved and membership applications must be approved by the administrator of the list (currently Lance Lloyd). This means few messages will be received via this list and hopefully those that are sent will be of much interest (certainly, no SPAM). The exact type of message that will be acceptable will be limited to those mentioned above or those agreed to by the membership.

eRBMS is different to ICM-L (the other list sponsored by RBMS) as it an exclusive RBMS membership list (ICM-L has members from all around the world and anyone can post a message as long as they have subscribed to ICM-L) and it is designed enhance your communication with the "Society" and allow members from around Australia to contribute to policy development and initiatives for members. ICM-L had some of these aims initially but its success in the world of ICM and email communication as well as the fact that not all or only RBMS members belong to it has limited its usefulness in this regard. Another difference is that attachments can be sent to eRBMS and as they go via a virus protected email system of the moderator these should be virus free, enhancing the type of information you can received as a member of RBMS.

How do I join, you ask?

Membership of eRBMS is ONLY available to RBMS members. This may result from your nomination of an email address on your subscription notice, an email from the moderator who is aware of your RBMS membership (and your email address) asking you if you want to become a member or by your request if you find you are not on this list and you are a RBMS member.

Members requests can be made at the following website http://lists.vicnet.net.au/mailman/listinfo/erbms
