ICM-L Information and Policy Statement

ICM-L is an e-mail Discussion List to which members can submit messages on Catchment Management to about 600 list members worldwide, by simply sending a message to one e-mail address: icm-l@vicnet.net.au. You have to be a member to send and receive messages. The list has been developed under the auspices of the River Basin Management Society (RBMS).

ICM-L is designed to facilitate worldwide communication between practitioners and others with an interest in the area of Integrated Catchment Management (ICM).

ICM is the holistic approach to management of land, water and related resources on a water catchment or watershed basis. It aims to integrate the various scientific, engineering, management and practical disciplines to enable sustainable management of these areas.  ICM is based upon the premise that a catchment or river basin is the most appropriate and recognisable landscape unit for the purposes of management. Using such a unit promotes the understanding that events and activities that impact on land, water and related resources are directly related to other activities and resources within a catchment and that sustainable management must recognise these links.

When joining, we ask members to send an introductory message to the list with some information about your interests in Integrated Catchment Management (ICM) and if possible, to pose a question or idea to which others can respond!

Acceptable use of the List

The list can only be used by members of the list for genuine information sharing purposes. We encourage discussion on all matters relating to ICM and its related sciences and effects. The list can be used to request information or to advertise initiatives, released reports, seminars, conferences, workshops or job vacancies. It is not however, acceptable for individuals or businesses to advertise products or services from which they can obtain a personal reward. If a user has found a product or service beneficial to the purposes of ICM, the list moderator (details below) can review the item and post information to the list if thought appropriate.

How do I join, you ask?

Joining ICM-L is easy, all you need to do is visit this website http://lists.vicnet.net.au/mailman/listinfo/icm-l and following the instructions on line.  You can easily manage your subscription using this interface.
